What impressed me immediately is the first thing this program did was to ask me if I wanted to create a system restore point. Then it explained that diagnose system will modify core settings of Windows which may cause problems for some systems. They highly recommended that you open the details window and check every item carefully before you click repair button. It then tells you what do to if you have problems. Very through.
This program is divided into 4 major areas, maintain Windows, diagnose System, utilities and home.
I went to diagnose system first. This section scanned the following areas: system optimization which (optimizes and repairs system configuration), security defense which prevents spyware from being installed your PC, disk defragment which improves PC performance and Security analyzer, which scans Windows system to find hijacked settings.
After the scan I had a bit of an upset as it had found 9593 problems under security defense. I thought that after all this good stuff, it was going to turn out to be hyped up over inflated garbage. Well this is more of an inoculation against spyware, essentially installing a database that prevents spyware from being installed on your PC rather than just warning you that spyware is trying to get onto your computer.
The number listed was the anti-malware database to be added.
As far as system optimization went, it found a reasonable number of errors. It then organized them into different sections, trouble shooting, windows interface, network connection, windows services, system configuration.
Maintain Windows consisted of spyware removal, registry fix, privacy sweep, and junk files cleaner. No hype here either, just a reasonable number of errors. Junk files cleaner was organized by amount of space consumed rather than a number or errors. I really liked this too.
The tuneup unit has a disk cleaner, a disk doctor, file shredder, game booster, internet booster, security, smart defrag, registry def rag, shortcut fixer, and smart RAM. The smart RAM definitely freed up some memory. Another plus! Under security it offers driver backup (wonderful if you have recently updated drivers or have no system driver disk), IE security assistance, system backup and system file checker. Each of these are fully explained when you click on them.
Admin tools has auto shutdown, cloned files finder, context menu manager, disk explore, restore center, startup manager, system information and windows manager. The uninstall unwanted apps is wonderful. It allows for forced uninstall, that gets rid of stubborn stuff that stays behind after uninstalling programs leaving clutter on your computer. It also allows you to uninstall unwanted toolbar separates large programs, and allows you to uninstall Windows updates that either go bad or have been replaced by a service pack.
There is also a turbo boost, that lets you turn off several services temporarily so that you can concentrate on a project that needs all your computer resources.
